Is your retail business looking to sell unique, handcrafted, American-made gifts – such as jewelry, oil lamps, and ornaments – that will delight your shoppers, help them start meaningful traditions, and bring them back to your store year after year?
Welcome to Danforth Pewter, where we work metal by hand.
We are a small craft business with strong roots in our Vermont community. We make world-class pewter gifts that are beloved by our customers because they are high in quality, deeply meaningful, and can be used every day and still last for generations. (Pewter is easy to clean, food-safe, and does not tarnish, rust, or break.)
All of our products are made in the USA – in fact, here in our Middlebury, Vermont workshop by our team of talented in-house artisans.
We are strongly committed to our values of quality, authenticity, and sustainability. We actively seek out partnerships with businesses that are socially conscious, environmentally sustainable, and/or align with our values in other ways. Many of these companies are employee-owned B-Corps with strong commitments to stewardship, community building, and ethical practices.

- University of Vermont
- Middlebury College
- Vermont Public Radio (VPR)

"Working with Danforth Pewter and my rep has been a great experience! We're a new customer, and they have been extremely helpful every step of the way. Their beautiful, handcrafted work easily embodies the ideals of Frank Lloyd Wright, and has made a great addition for our guests to purchase in the Pavilion Shop at Graycliff! We look forward to working with them in the future!"

Can we sell on Amazon or any other 3rd party sites?
We are delighted to have you offer Danforth pewter in your store, on your website, and in your catalog. However, we do not allow anyone to sell our products on 3rd party websites like Amazon, eBay, or Pinterest. This is to protect you and us from anyone's buying at wholesale and then reselling below MAP on Amazon or in some similar place, which would undermine all of our businesses. We also have found that having retailers selling our products on Amazon led to inconsistent imagery and product information, as well as inconsistent prices. We manage the Danforth selection on Amazon to ensure that the prices match the MAP, to ensure that Amazon does not undercut you on price. So again, please present our products in your store(s), on your website, and in your catalog and nowhere else.
Is pewter food-safe?
All of our pewter meets or exceeds FDA food-safety standards.
How is your business making an effort to go green?
Several ways. For one thing, carved or cast pewter can be melted back down into its original form and reused, which allows us to melt down flawed products and remake them – which makes for little or no wasted material.
Second, our flagship store now runs on renewable electricity, thanks for our solar farm. We offer free charging in our parking lot, and we share the extra electricity from our farm with our neighbors in Middlebury. To read more about our efforts toward sustainability, click here.

"I am thrilled to have Danforth in our shop! We are an equine themed gift shop in a horse racing town and recently brought in the Netsuke animals, frames, keyrings and scatter pins. The staff at Danforth made the initial ordering process a breeze and we received our shipment quickly and efficiently. We just recently reordered with the same flawless customer service! We love that the products are made in the USA and more specifically, in our own backyard. The quality and selection fit right in with our niche and the company staff clearly customer service oriented!."
- Marianne M. Barker, Pres., Impressions of Saratoga
"The Sparrow Store has sold Danforth for the four years we have been open. Our most popular items are the oil lamps. They get a lot of attention because of their beauty and perfection. We have never had a complaint about them but we have had customers come back to buy a second lamp. We love Danforth and are proud to carry them in our store!"
- Nancy Fleming, The Sparrow Store
"As a retailer, I love carrying Danforth Pewter in our stores, the small footprint it takes with in the store has many turns through out the year, making it a smart profitable choice from this buyers perspective. The quality of the merchandise is top notch, and the selection offers something for our entire customer base. Our Danforth display of sells itself, but when given the opportunity it's enjoyable to discuss the Danforth company and their products. Danforth Pewter's customer service is quick to respond to questions and easy to work with. Sales representatives are knowledgeable and enjoyable to work with. I choose to offer Danforth Pewter to my customers because they offer heirloom quality, creative product, that appeals to a wide range of customers.
- Colleen Shipman, General Manager & Buyer, Phoenix Books
"After more than five years it continues to be a pleasure selling Danforth products from our all American retail shop. Their customer service is excellent, the staff knowledgeable, their products are unique and very functional. Danforth’s quality control is unsurpassed. During one of our first Christmas seasons one of our very good customers wanted to purchase several oil lamps as Christmas gifts which we did not have in stock. It was a few days until Christmas. I phoned in our order and was told Danforth would do their best and they did. Thirteen oil lamps arrived in time for Christmas, and we were told later Fred Danforth came in early to work on our order. All vendors should be this good."
