I like how the lamp looks and its functionality

  • I should have done this years ago! 5

This is the first oil lamp I've ever owned. I've researched many lamps to use for inevitable emergency situations and loved the design of the Cape Oil Lamp. I gathered the entire family around for a lighting ceremony and the lamp did not disappoint. Last night I had a great conversation with my older teenage son, and this lamp really helped create a calm ambience for a serious conversation. One of my top ten all-time favorite purchases to date! Thank you for making such a fine lamp being both functional and elegant. The Cape Oil lamp will definitely outlive me.

  • Practical Decor 5

We like things that serve a practical purpose, as well as make a design statement. The Cape Oil Lamp does both very well. For a second review please see my comments on the smaller, matching Bay lamps we also have. But in summary: provides attractive accent lighting, emergency backup lighting (we live in the Florida hurricane zone), and an elegant full-time edition to our decor. In addition, the lamp oil from Danforth is smokeless & odorless, a far cry from the old sooty, smelly kerosene lamps. You & your guests will be charmed by the change from candles.

This lamp has exceeded all my expectations. The design of the base makes it very stable on any surface and the attention to detail and classic design will make it stand out wherever it is placed. I lit it for the first time last night and there were a few things I noticed off the bat. First, the amount of light it gave off was a surprise. The rolled 2 inch wick did a great job enlarging the flame and it's probably the brightest of all my lamps. Second, the flame was very still making for a consistent lighting in the room. It was rarely blown around, even with a ceiling fan on above. Finally, how all the details became even prettier when reflecting the flame. I was also very surprised at the lack of any odor from the burning lamp. I used the Sterno brand lamp oil, but I'm not sure if it was that or the design of the glass chimney burning off any excess particles. Either way, I am very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it.

  • Well--Remarkable Refinements in The Oil Lamps 5

Well. . .I have a have a Mariner kerosene lamp burning here, and a Captain--but also the new one, the Cape lamp. I have to say the new craftspersonship is exceptional--all the details are exceptional. Though it's only about half an inch taller than the Mariner, every detail about this lamp is different. It is exceptionally precise and beautiful, and the height of the French-made burner is slightly higher--it's quite exceptional. Danforth carried into the next generation. Deep thanks. Tom SimmonsS
