HOW IT'S MADE
Pewter is an incredibly versatile metal; this alloy of tin, copper, and antimony can make buttons and oil lamps, jewelry and tableware, everyday housewares and timeless objects. At Danforth, we use this metal to make a wide range of items ranging from the classic to the contemporary.
Our pewter is lead free and meets or exceeds all FDA food-safety standards. Our designs are all hand-crafted—cast or spun—at our Middlebury, VT, workshop, where visitors can see firsthand our 21st century approach to this ancient craft.
Our craftspeople train over years to master their crafts. Spend some time inside our workshop to see our craftspeople making some of Danforth's flagship products.
