The song itself is believed to date back to 18th century France, although the tune we sing today most likely originated with the English composer Frederic Austin, who codified the lyrics and added the now well-known flourish during "five go-old rings."

I ordered this ornament this year in memory of my brother, who passed away last summer. When we were young & his voice was changing, my grandmother used to pay him a quarter to sing the 12 Days of Christmas so she could hear his voice crack on #5. I love pewter ornaments on my tree, and I was so happy to find this one, which is a beautiful design & reasonably priced. I'd definitely recommend this series of ornaments from Danforth Pewter.
