Description

An authentic reproduction in pewter of one of the eight silver drinking cups designed by Thomas Jefferson and made for him by John Letelier of Richmond, Virginia. Five of the original cups are on display at Monticello Jefferson's home in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Jefferson Cup can be personalized with a monogram or name. Each one is handcrafted in the USA in our Middlebury, Vermont workshop.

Pewter barware is excellent for cold drinks. Pewter retains a pleasant chill and traps in a liquid's coldness, making it perfect for a cold beer, wine, and iced drinks like mint juleps. Many people who have tried sipping out of pewter barware now swear by it!

Please note it is not advisable to drink hot drinks out of pewter mugs because of the melting point of the metal. We recommend hand-washing all pewter barware with warm soap and water, then drying it completely with a cloth.

Our pewter meets or exceeds all FDA food-safety standards.

The Jefferson cup was exactly as I hoped: perfect. Lovely finish and well executed lettering. The ordering process was easily managed -- altho in selecting the font it would have been helpful to see the requested name in the different fonts. And to top it all, Brittany Mason was remarkably patient and helpful. Danforth is my 'go-to' now for gifts of this type.

This is just one of the most elegant and stylish drinking vessles I've seen in a long time. The pictures do not do it justice. You have to see and feel it first hand. Gorgeous.

Each member of our family is given a pewter Jefferson Cup engraved with their initials. The cup I ordered recently for my granddaughter arrived with the engraving much smaller than that on the other cups. Danforth offered to send another cup with engraving that would match the size on the other cups we already have. The cup arrived a few days ago and is beautiful. This was certainly exceptional customer service. Thank you!

My wife and I both attended William and Mary and so received Shirley Pewter Jefferson Cups as wedding gifts. We're still using them daily 45 years later, so they've become symbolic of the lasting union. As such, we always give a pair as wedding gifts.
