Honoring the long tradition of pysanka, this Ukrainian Egg ornament design is centered around the sun. You can intepret the design in many ways...the yolk of an egg can represent the sun; eggs themselves are a source of new life and have been used in spring rituals since ancient times; the central sun is also a flower, surrounded by the new growth of vines. 

To us, the design in this pysanky is a symbol of hope. The pink brings brightness as we await the arrival of spring.
