For many people, the 12 Days of Christmas holds special meaning that goes beyond the song's lyrics. In Christian tradition, the twelve days mark the span between Jesus Christ's birth and the Epiphany on January 6th, when the Three Wiseman came to honor Him. The carol itself is believed to originate from to 18th century France, though the song we sing today most likely came from Frederic Austin, the English composer who set today's lyrics to the melody in 1909. Despite its apocryphal origins, many people hold that the Seven Swans a Swimming represent either the seven gifts of the Holy Spirt or the seven Sacraments.

Whatever meaning this song holds for you, we hope our beloved pewter ornaments will enrich your holidays and help you start or continue beautiful family traditions.

The center of the ornament pivots on its axis, allowing you to create a dynamic tableau of the Christmas carol in your tree, in your window, or wherever you hang your collection. Each is two-sided, so you can see the elegant Swan from any angle.

All of my children are now adults setting up their own households, and two of them have young children. Last year I decided to start a new tradition that would link us all together at Christmas. I started buying these beautiful ornaments and giving them to each household. It was really special this year when the grandchildren were here and searched out Christmas tree for the ornaments that matched theirs.
