12 Ornaments that Create Traditions

Posted by Danforth Pewter on May 4th 2023

Danforth ornaments are more than just decorations. They're miniature works of art, each one a thoughtfully designed piece that tells a story and bears the marks of the many human hands who crafted it.

That said, they're also meant to be passed around the room. Handled. Admired up close. They're the stuff of traditions, meant to be shared with loved ones, given and collected for generations.

Some families wait for the release of our Annual Ornament every spring, and buy one for each of their children or grandchildren. Others celebrate the birth of a new baby in the family with a personalized ornament. Some people welcome spring by decorating their homes with brightly colored, spring-themed ornaments that celebrate new life. Some birders and nature lovers collect one new bird ornament every years, displaying them on an ornament tree (one that doesn't get put away after the holidays).

There are as many ways to create traditions as there are ornaments!

With that in mind, here are some of our favorite ways that our ornaments can create beautiful, lifelong traditions.

What tradition will you start?

"We have been building quite a collection of Danforth birds. As a thank you/pick-me-up gift, I surprised my spouse with the Blue Jay Ornament on Tuesday morning before we left for work. It now has a place of honor on our Danforth ornament tree on our coffee table. The stunning craftsmanship is beautiful to behold."

"I was introduced to Danforth Christmas ornaments quite a few years ago when a couple of friends sent me a little wooden Christmas tree that he had made and a Danforth ornament to hang on it. Since then they have continued to send me another ornament every Christmas, and I have added several on my own from the catalog. I have also purchased many ornaments to give to others at Christmas and as baby gifts and to add to the collections that I have started for my five granddaughters. I LOVE the ornaments, and everyone who sees my little tree, which now holds 30 ornaments, loves it! And I just yesterday received a thank-you note for the latest Baby's First Christmas ornament that I sent to a new mother. Thank you so much for your beautiful ornaments and your excellent customer service. I hope you will continue for many years. Merry Christmas!"

Stories like these are the reason we do what we do. There's nothing more important than sharing love, and we're so glad that our ornaments have been a vehicle for that for well over a generation--and for many more to come!
