5 Fun Gift Ideas for Summer Weddings

Posted by Danforth Pewter on Jun 14th 2023

It's summer wedding season, which means it's time to start thinking about what to get that special couple!

If you've already chosen a gift from their wedding registry, it's always nice to add a personal touch. If they don't have a registry, our selection of handcrafted gifts, all made right here in the USA, make wonderful heirlooms-to-be that will celebrate their special day and continue to bring joy and meaning to their home for a lifetime.

With that in mind, here are five of our favorite summer wedding gifts.

MAPLE LEAF / SUMMER PHOTO FRAME

One Danforth customer, Sharon, wrote, "I purchased this [frame] for a wedding gift. I had previously bought and love the snowflake frame. I love this one too. It is of artist quality and the pattern is lovely and vibrant. It now frames the wedding invitation of a friend who will be married in June and has been mailed to my nature-loving friend. I will miss it but I am happy to have found the perfect gift that will be truly appreciated."

What a great idea, to frame the wedding invitation! Newlyweds often put a lot of time, effort, creativity, and personality into their invitations and save-the-dates, so this is a thoughtful way to honor that for them. (Of course, a photo of the happy couple would be lovely in this frame, too.)

The Maple Leaf / Summer 4x6 Picture Frame makes a wonderful gift for the couple getting married in the mountains or woods. Its layers of low-relief maple leaves, hand-painted with vivid forest green, are a testament to the breathtaking beauty of our northeastern U.S. forests. (It's also available in orange—perfect for fall weddings if you're thinking ahead!)

EVERLASTING AND FORGET ME NOT VASES

There's nothing like fresh-cut flowers in your kitchen or living room, whether it's a bouquet from a loved one or wildflowers from the backyard. With a handspun pewter vase, the newlyweds in your life can keep the romance alive for a lifetime.

One customer, Frances, said this about the Forget Me Not Vase (pictured, left): "Perfect! Beautiful base, beautiful engraving."

The hammered, beaded ring around the neck of the Everlasting Vase (right) looks like a wedding ring, so it makes a lovely gift for weddings and anniversaries!

All our vases are spun by hand in our Middlebury, Vermont workshop.

CHAMPAGNE FLUTES

Elegant handcrafted pewter champagne flutes make a stunning gift for anniversaries, weddings, or any other meaningful occasion. Engrave the couple's monogram, names, or wedding date for an added touch!

If you're used to sipping bubbly from glass or crystal, you may be surprised to learn that pewter makes an excellent champagne vessel. In fact, many people prefer it! Pewter, which was what most Americans drank out of until the 1800s, retains a pleasant chill and traps in a liquid's coldness, keeping it cooler longer. Give it a try and see if you want to go back to your old flutes!

(By the way, we loved doing this photo shoot, not only because of the glorious spring day in this beautiful locale, but also for the yummy cupcakes! Photo taken at Sleepy Hollow Inn with some scrumptious desserts from Krin's Bakery. If you're planning a wedding in Vermont, we highly recommend both businesses.)

HEART WINE BOTTLE STOPPER

Sometimes it's the simple things that carry that most memories. A heart is a symbol of everlasting love and commitment, and this heart-shaped bottle stopper can remind the couple of their special day every time they uncork a bottle!

If you like wine-themed accessories—and especially heart-themed, wine-themed accessories—check out another new design from 2023, our rainbow Heart Wine Charms. (Hint: there's one pictured above with our Champagne Flute; did you catch it?)

VICTORIAN HEART FRAME ORNAMENT

Just as wedding invitations don't get much love after the day itself, so too are there other moments that get lost in the shuffle.

One long-time customer, Karen, told us, "Whenever I go to a wedding, I make sure to look at the couple's social media to find their engagement photos. Then I print one out. (I love it when I find a close-up of the ring) and I put it inside a heart frame ornament. Then I use that ornament on the outside of the gift, like a bow. The couple is always so surprised to see one of their engagement photos framed at their wedding."

We love hearing such creative stories about how to make loved ones' weddings special!

We know that weddings are as special as the people in them, and we are so honored to be a part of your and your loved ones'. We hope our handcrafted pewter designs can help you honor the love between people you love. Thank you for looking for small, local businesses like ours.
