Description  

Modeled after a traditional netsuke - a small Japanese figurine usually tied to the sash of a kimono - our Turtle Netsuke makes a wonderful game piece, addition to a fairy or gnome garden, or little friend to keep you company on your desk. It also makes a great party favor, stocking stuffer, token of appreciation, or surprise for anyone who loves turtles.

Turtles represent self-containment, creative source, earthiness, being grounded, longevity, protection, shelter, and a steady approach to life. In dreams they are interpreted as patience, wisdom, or hiding something essential.

Like all Danforth netsukes, the Turtle is handcrafted in our Middlebury workshop from solid pewter. Some netsukes are also available in select sets of three. Collect them all!

Dimensions & Specifications

Because we craft each netsuke by hand, all dimensions are approximate. Subtle variations are natural.

    I recently purchased a couple of the netsukes - turtle and bear. They are so darn cute. I have ordered several of these in the past for my grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. They have absolutely loved them.

    My granddaughter loved the turtle netsuke we gave her for Christmas. Our other granddaughters also liked their special pewter pieces, a tadpole, a frog, a dog , and a 4leaf clover. Excellent workmanship on all the pieces. Thank you!

    This product was well designed and made. A great little treat to give as a small gift or to set on your desk. I love the craftsmanship of Danforth products. There's great attention to detail, and I know I'm getting a product that I will enjoy and that will last.

    I have ordered 5 different Netsuke over the past few years and I just received the Turtle and it and the Rabbit are my favorites. The Turtle has a lot of detail and is a good size. I have them facing each other and it reminds me of the fable of The Tortoise and the Hare.

    We are loving the Netsuke Collection from Danforth Pewter and so are our customers. One customer bought a set of Netsuke for the Tooth Fairy to leave for her grandson. How cute is that? I have the turtle on my desk as a reminder that slow and steady wins the race.
